    Your responsibilities as a vendor

As an Elexbig vendor, you're responsible for ensuring all products meet safety standards before listing them.

    What you must do
    • Source products only from reputable suppliers and manufacturers
    • Retain certificates, testing reports, and invoices for verification purposes
    • Accurately describe safety features and warnings in your product listings
    • Regularly check regulatory updates to ensure ongoing compliance
    • Act immediately if you suspect a product may be unsafe

💡 Pro tip: Add a safety assurance note such as “Compliant with applicable Nigerian safety standards” to your product description where applicable. This can help build customer confidence and show that your product meets relevant safety requirements.
    Product recalls on Elexbig

When a product is found to pose a safety risk, a recall may be initiated by the vendor, the manufacturer, or Elexbig. Here's how the process works:

    Step 1: Notification
    • Vendors must inform Elexbig immediately if they become aware of a recall affecting their product
    • Elexbig may also initiate a recall if alerted by regulators, manufacturers, or customers
    • You'll receive notification via email and through your vendor dashboard
    Step 2: Immediate action required

Once you're notified of a recall, you must:

    1. Remove the affected listing(s) immediately from your store
    2. Stop dispatching any unsold stock of the recalled product
    3. Provide Elexbig with details of the issue and supporting documents (e.g., recall notice, test reports)
    4. Quarantine all remaining stock to prevent accidental sale
    Step 3: Customer communication
    • Elexbig will contact affected customers directly with instructions for returns, refunds, or replacements
    • You may be required to provide customer contact details for products sold through your store
    • Vendors are responsible for covering associated costs, including return shipping and refunds

⚠️ Warning: Failure to cooperate with a recall may lead to account suspension or permanent removal from Elexbig.

      Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my products need safety certification?

Check the regulations in Nigeria for your product category. Toys, electronics, chargers, cosmetics, and children's products almost always require official testing and certification before sale. If you're unsure, consult with your supplier or a compliance specialist.

What happens if I list a product without safety certification?

The listing will be removed immediately, and you may face penalties including warnings or temporary suspension. Repeated violations can result in permanent account suspension.

Who is responsible for the cost of a recall?

Vendors are responsible for costs related to recalls, including customer refunds, return shipping, and disposal of unsafe stock. You may be able to recover costs from your supplier depending on your agreement with them.

Can I relist a recalled product after fixing the issue?

Yes, but only if you provide updated certification or documentation proving the product now meets all safety standards. The listing must be approved by Elexbig before going live.

What if my supplier didn't inform me of a recall?

You are still responsible for the products you list on Elexbig. Always monitor safety announcements proactively and request documentation from suppliers before listing new products.

Where can I check for product recalls in Nigeria?

Monitor updates from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) regularly for product safety warnings, defective product alerts, recalls and other consumer protection notices. SON specifically issues public alerts on defective or potentially injurious products, while FCCPC publishes consumer safety alerts and regulatory updates.

You should also follow their official websites and subscribe to relevant updates where available. If you believe a product is unsafe or defective, you can report the issue to the appropriate regulatory authority.
